Letter to Parents
Attention Parents!
Hundreds of Ducks are up for adoption … we need YOUR help!
Not live ducks of course…plastic ones who are about to go for a swim down the Bronx River! That’s right…the river will be full of ducks racing to the finish line to win their “adopted parent” a great prize!
1. The Learning Tree’s 2nd annual Duck Race will take place on October 12th at 12pm. If the weather prohibits our race, winners will be randomly drawn at TLT on October 15th.
2. In preparation for the duck race, we are asking our parents and students to help us get our ducks adopted. Ask neighbors, family and friends to adopt at least 1 duck. Have them fill out the attached form, “adoption papers”. The ducks are priced as follows: 1 duck for $5.00 and 6 ducks for $25.00
a. Please collect all money as you have the adoption papers filled out. Individuals may adopt as many ducks as they wish as long as they pay the correct amount
3. We are providing 8 adoption papers for each child to begin with. Please make a copy, just in case you need more. In addition, it is very important that you send in the completed duck adoption papers as soon as you receive the money. We do not want to sell more ducks than we have. Adoption papers & money is due on or before 10/4/12 @ 12pm.
4. Classroom participation is key to this adoption process. Our classrooms will be competing to see which class will get the largest number of ducks adopted. Prizes will be awarded to the winning classroom. Far away supporters can adopt online until Thursday, October 3rd @ 10pm. Visit our Duck Race website: www.tltDuckRace.weebly.com
5. Buy a $1 Raffle for a chance to win our 50/50 raffle drawing, immediately following the race.
6. Now what do the winning ducks get for their adopted parent? The first duck to cross the finish line, in the final heat, will win $100! The 2nd duck to cross the finish line, in the final heat, will win $50. The winner of our 50/50 Raffle will win ½ of the amount raised through the raffle.
7. Winners do not have to be present to win. Please be sure all adoption papers are filled out completely and correctly so we can contact winners after the race. Prizes can be picked up beginning Wednesday, October 16th. Winners have 30 days, from the date of the race, to claim their prize (until 11/12/13).
8. As ducks are adopted they will be assigned a number. The list of numbers and adoptive parents will be available for reference at the race.
9. As always, we will be rewarding our students for getting these ducks adopted! The top 2 students, in Elementary & Middle School, who turn in the most completed adoption papers will be awarded a FREE Dress Down Pass. The top student in Pre-School will receive a treat.
10. Please note: adopted parents will NOT actually receive their ducks in hand. The ducks will remain the property of The Learning Tree for use in future duck races.
11. Our adoption process begins today, September 23rd. The final day to adopt a duck through the school will be Friday, October 4th @ 12 noon. If we still have ducks available for adoption, we will sell them at The Learning Tree until Wednesday, October 9th @ 12:00 pm.
12. If you have any questions regarding the duck race or adoption process, please contact the school at 718.944.0958.
Thank you in advance for helping us with this FUNdraiser!
